Summer Camp is based at the Craighead Diocesan School in Timaru.
The school has a scenic private campus, with lawns, trees and both historic and new buildings. It has its own outdoor recreational facilities, including playing fields, playground, swimming pool, trampolines and tennis courts.
Highfield Mall, just two minutes’ walk from the school on quiet streets, has a New World supermarket, café, pharmacy and other shops. Timaru is the second largest city in Canterbury.
Local activities include safe swimming beaches, leisure centre, botanic gardens, wonderful walks, museums and art gallery.
You must bring your own caravan or tent. For tents, you need your usual camping equipment. For caravans, you must park in a parking space and there are no power sites or sewage dumps at the school.
You can choose stay in the school lodge rooms, which offer a mixture of configurations and range from single to four beds. Lodge rooms are booked up quickly.
There is one price for all dorm beds as they are all of a similar, very comfortable standard.
For families who prefer to stay offsite, a facilities fee will apply.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are catered options provided by the onsite kitchen staff. Morning tea is also provided. We can cater for vegetarian and gluten-free diets. Limited cooking facilities are available onsite for those who wish to prepare their own meals.
